MA! Home Tour Atlanta 2015

MA! Home Tour Atlanta

Founded in 2007, MA! has evolved into Design is Human, Atlanta, a design event that promotes modern international design and culture. MA! has created a platform for cutting edge architects, interior designers and builders to showcase their work.

The Terrell-Bonafiglia home on the 2015 tour was a breath of fresh air. Nestled in Ansley Park, an old affluent neighborhood of Atlanta, this modern home was designed by principle Jordan Williams of Plexus R+D and the combined interior design endeavors of DKM Interiors & Plexus R+D. Ansley Park, dating back to 1904, was the first Atlanta suburban neighborhood designed for automobiles with its wide, winding roads rather than the grid pattern of normal streetcar suburbs of the time. Diverse in style and scale, the houses in the district represent a full range of eclectic and contemporary architecture to please the eye.

From the time I entered through the pivoting glass door, interesting elements surfaced around every corner. The central feature of the home could not be avoided as all eyes immediately skimmed the best point of view to begin the MA! tour. The floor to ceiling windows granted a constant view of the inviting pool and surrounding woods from every angle in each room. An open tunnel fireplace created a unique structural connection between the living room and the dining room. The contemporary artwork amplified a point of convergence for each location. The entire home was a work of art with gridded patterns and open spaces.

While only the ninth MA! Design is Human event, I have seen the modern movement steadily advance. The MA! is bridging Atlanta with the future in the recognition of clean lines and minimalist interiors. We look forward to the continued advancement of this dynamic event. www.ma-designishuman.com
