Donjenna’s Cheese Grits
- 2 cups grits, cooked separately (according to directions on package).
- 2 1/2 cups grated Asiago Cheese
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 fresh jalapeño, finely diced with seeds removed
- 6 or 8 garlic cloves, diced
- 6 TBSP Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- Salt and Pepper to taste
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Sauté the onion, jalapeño and garlic in 2 TBSP of olive oil while the grits are cooking separately. In the final 5 minutes of the grits cooking, add the sautéed onion, jalapeño, garlic and 2 cups of cheese – stirring constantly (the stove should be off at this point). Next, Add 3 TBSP of Extra Virgin Olive Oil to the Buon Appetito Kitchen Baker. Next, Pour the grits mixture into the Buon Appetito Kitchen Baker. A dash of Salt and Pepper to taste. Add the remaining 1/2 cup of cheese to the top (or more if you desire). Put into the oven for 45 – 55 min for the cheese to obtain a light golden color. You are ready to have the best grits ever! Serves 6.
