Happy Negroni Week

Cupa Whiskey Glass

The Negroni cocktail is believed to have been created in Florence Italy during the early 20th century. Count Camillo Negroni while at Caffè Cavalli asked the bartender, Fosco Scarselli, to strengthen his favorite cocktail, the Americano, by adding gin rather than the normal soda water.

Orson Welles, while working in Rome on the movie Cagliostro in 1947, once described the Negroni in an interview, “The bitters are excellent for your liver, the gin is bad for you. They balance each other.”
